The Byzantine empire believed in their religion. They viewed the Emperor as a representative or messenger of christ.
the people really believed in their religion because with out it they felt naked. The holy society in Byzantine had a strict
hierarchical structure according to absolute concepts they had to follow from their emperior. Local aristocracy, state
functionaries, senior military officers, and large landowners were all members of the upper class. Middle class people
comprised the urburn population of murchants, industrialists, and owners of small land properties. The lower class
was made up of the lowest which was the wage owners and the Paupers. Clergy people did exhist the emperior gave
them special priviliges because they were people who was distributed throughout all social levels; slaves exhisted although
it wasnt permanent. the byzantine people believed in saving the soul, so they allowed the slaves to work for their freedom
or they allowed them to work on the land for it. good thing the byzantine people allowed the slaves to have free children
when they were born.
